02 Feb 5 Simple Ways to Freshen Your Home
Just because the holidays are over doesn’t mean the decorating should stop! You may even have your tree still up (no judgments here). But, it’s still early in the year, so why not shake things up with these big impact, yet easy ideas to freshen your home in 2018
Pre-spring Spring-Cleaning
Who says you have to wait until spring? No time like the present! Read the powerful book, “The Life-changing Magic of Tidying Up” by Marie Kondo and really focus on the things that bring you joy. You’ll clear out the clutter while clearing your mind, so you can attack your home in 2018 with joy, positivity, and organization!
New Style? New Textiles!
A super simple way to liven up a space is to swap out throws, pillows, curtains, and rugs. For rugs, I can’t say enough praise for RugsUSA.com. It has an incredible selection and detailed reviews — plus, they are always having sales. A new rug or curtains can also inspire fresh colors to add to your walls (which is my next tip!). For throws, pillows and curtains, check out West Elm or World Market to keep costs low and style high!
Put On a New Coat …
… of paint! A super easy way to make a big impact (on the cheap!) is paint. Maybe the new rug you purchased has a brilliant shade of navy blue that inspires you to paint an accent wall in your bedroom. Or maybe a secondary color in a new pillow is perfect for the living room walls. You can find inspiration everywhere, and adding color to your home brings energy and fun. For more inspiration, visit the Pantone website to see home color trends for your home in 2018 or stop by your local paint store. (Remember, there’s always Pinterest!)
Finish a Project
You know … THAT one. The one that’s been sitting in the corner that you just can’t seem to get to. I promise the feeling of finally completing a project that has been dormant will give you such a feeling of accomplishment. It may even inspire some new projects for your home! Sage Advice
2017 was a tough year for a lot of reasons, so you might benefit from clearing negative energy that snuck its way into your home. An ancient ritual called smudging uses burning sage to clear out negativity from your space. By focusing on every inch of your home with smudging, you can set a positive intention for 2018.
